Welcome to the September wacky holidays hop! You know all those obscure things that earned themselves national days of recognition? We're here to celebrate them! Who says only the major holidays get cards?!

This hop takes place on the first Saturday of each month and we'd love to have you join us! DM @claires_card_on for all the info

Today is National Hummingbird Day. I adore birds in general, but these tiny creatures are some of my favorite. The Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 prohibits the domestication of migratory birds, including hummers. The Audubon Company introduced the first commercial hummingbird feeder in 1950. We have a feeder out now and have at least 2 hummingbirds hanging around, including one with a ruby throat. So beautiful!

For this card, I cut the hummingbird on my Cricut and glued the layers together. I had some left over flowers from the Hues of Happiness paper by @stampinupofficial. I layered them down the side and placed the hummingbird over it. I stamped the sentiment off to the side. The background was done with the @honeybeestamps Quilted Cover Plate. I added a small brass butterfly to one of the flowers, also from Stampin' Up. For your viewing pleasure, I included some photos my husband took of one of our hummingbirds.

Please hop along with the below participants as we celebrate all things September!

It's a Bee-utiful day!

Sunday, July 31, 2022

Hello everyone! Have you heard the buzzzzzzz? 🐝🐝🐝

Today I am participating in an Instagram Hop highlighting rediscovery. The premise of this hop is to dig through that drawer, root through that hidden pile, or open those bins and find what has been forgotten about. I encourage you to try this and instead of buying new product, take a look at the treasures you already have. This is a monthly hop so if you are interested in joining us, message @craftwithme101 to get all of the information. πŸ™‚

This month's theme is bees! For this card, I used the honey comb Thinlits corners from @Sizzix to create a stencil. I used Versamark and then heat embossed it in gold to create the honeycomb effect. I layered it with flowers diet cut from the @stampinupofficial Hues of Happiness Designed Series Paper. The cute little bees are also from Stampin'Up's Honeybee Home stamp and die set. This was layered onto a piece of the Hues of Happiness DSP, then put onto a colored base. 🐝

Now, buzz right along to the next stop on the hop! Have a BEE-utiful day! 🐝

July 2022 Monthly Mix Challenge with Gina K.

Tuesday, July 5, 2022

This card was designed for the July Monthly Mix Challenge with Gina K. and was hosted by Michelle Woerner.  The challenge was to make a black and white card with a POP of color (no more than 25% of the total card) using a stamp of Gina's. I chose the largest floral image from the Love At All Times set and stamped it in Memento ink then used the largest 2 dies from Master Layouts 2 to create the layers.  I stamped the little butterflies in Turquoise Sea and added some black details with a fine-tipped Sharpie.  Some Wink of Stella added a sparkly touch to the butterflies.  I dipped the sentiment in the Turquoise Sea ink to make it stand out against the background then finished the card off with some turquoise baubles I found at Hobby Lobby.

Wacky holidays blog hop

Saturday, July 2, 2022

Welcome to the July wacky holidays hop! You know all those obscure things that earned themselves national days of recognition? We're here to celebrate them! Who says only the major holidays get cards?!

This hop takes place on the first Saturday of each month and we'd love to have you join us! DM @claires_card_on for all the info

🐝Don’t Step On A Bee Day is observed every year on July 10 in the United Kingdom. Bees have been around for centuries and are closely related to wasps. They are mostly found in every part of the world that has insect-pollinated flowering plants. Bees are essential to our survival and play a big role in balancing our ecosystem. They are great pollinators, produce honey, and give us food. This day marks the importance of the existence of these insects and the work that they do. For today's card, I used the Honeybee Home stamp and die set from @stampinupofficial. The die that cut the spiral notebook effect is from the Happiness Abounds set. 🐝
